As part of the Open World Forum, France hosted the First International FLOSS Competence Centres Summit in 2009. After this summit wich was organized by the Qualipso Project and had over 35 participants from 4 continents representing 11 different Free/Libre/Open Source Software (FLOSS) Competence Centres around the globe. The momentum created was reflected on the establishment of an international network of Competence Centres to collaborate on the promotion of FLOSS. Currently an initial infrastructure is set up (http://www.flosscc.org) and some of the CC are interchanging experiences and even materials. The Morfeo CC is one of them and has been actively involved in those matters.
Spanish Competence Center linked to Morfeo Community held a Press Conference last 26th March during the annual General Assembly of Morfeo. The event took place at the Industrial Organization Business School in Madrid. The presentation awaked a lot of interest in the attended media among there were Computer World, Linux Magazine or Gaceta Tecnologica. The objective of this public presentation was to let know the main objectives and benefits for the society and industry of the Competence Center in terms of boosting the use of low-cost, flexible, free open source software to develop innovative and reliable information systems. The presentation also remarked the social and economical impact of the Competence Center creation in fostering the creation and sustainability of employment and new enterprises around the Competence Center activity
